Emergency workers say 35 vehicles were involved in the accident, but fortunately no one was seriously injured. Wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour (113 kph) caused whiteout conditions and zero visibility on Interstate 70 outside Denver Airport. Many drivers slammed on their brakes once they saw brake lights in front of them, but were too close to stop on the icy roads. It took about four hours for the mess of twisted metal cars and trucks to be towed away. A 200 mile (322 km) stretch of Interstate 70 from Aurora, Colorado to the Kansas state line was closed due to blizzard conditions. The storm has quickly moved east through the Plain states and threatens to dump more than a foot of snow on the Upper Midwest. Seven traffic deaths in Wisconsin have been blamed on weather, and parts of Iowa are under a glaze of ice. Air travel has been affected, too. More than 250 flights have been cancelled at Chicago's two airports. In addition to snow and ice, forecasters say high winds, rain and flooding could be on their way. While in Dumas, Arkansas, residents were clearing up after a tornado hit their town. The devastation was severe. " A lot of people were hurt. And I don't know if we can recover from it or not" said this local resident. Keyword-severe weather ice snow car crash
