Store clerk handing ticket to customer STORYLINE Powerball officials in the United States said the one winning ticket sold for Saturday's 314 (M) million US dollars jackpot was purchased in Indiana. The jackpot was huge because there had not been a big winner in any of the drawings since late June. The game is played in 29 states as well as Washington DC and the US Virgin Islands. In Wisconsin and Connecticut, scores of people had lined up to buy last-minute tickets during the day. "It's just funny to watch all the people buy Powerballs that don't normally buy them," said one shop clerk who was kept busy selling tickets. Saturday night's six Powerball numbers were: two, eight, 23, 29 and 35, with a Powerball of 19. The jackpot for the next draw, on Wednesday, is to start over at a mere 15 (M) million dollars. But Americans wanting a bigger gamble, the Mega Millions jackpot has reached at least 200 (m) million for Friday's drawing. Mega Millions is played in 12 states and hasn't had a top winner since 6 July.
