The "big-tent" meeting in the southern city of Nasiriyah will bring together representatives of Kurds, Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims, as well as exiles who have lived for years outside Iraq. Tikrit, Saddam Hussein's hometown, was the last major Iraqi city to fall. After several days of airstrikes, US marines attacked Tikrit from the south, west and north on Monday, capturing a key Tigris River bridge in the centre of the city.
