Dallas Police will hold a 1600EDT presser regarding the beating of a citizen by DPD officers. DALLAS, TX - 1600EDT - Dallas police plan to release a dashcam video that purportedly shows officers beating a motorcycle driver at the end of a chase. A news conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dallas Police Headquarters on South Lam. The video was taken from an officer's dashcam during the Sept. 5 incident. Officers began pursuing Andrew Collins because he was revving his motorcycle on the sidewalk of MLK Boulevard. There was a pursuit that ended with Collins parking his bike on Lamar Street. According to those who have seen the video, the squad car hits the parked motorcycle, and then two officers begin to beat Collins with batons and their fists. One of the most shocking aspects of the video happens before the attack: sources say the officers could be heard planning their moves before the car hits the motorcycle. There are three officers on administrative leave, and three more on restricted duty. There is also a criminal investigation into the case. As a result, 22 different officers, from those at the scene up to supervisors, are now involved. The FBI is also involve to see if Collins' civil rights were violated.
