ARETHA FRANKLIN HONOURED WITH BET WALK OF FAME ARETHA FRANKLIN was honoured at the BET black tie gala in Washington, Saturday, as being the ninth annual inductee to the network's Walk of Fame. A star line up helped to at celebrate the Black Entertainment Television event by singing Franklin's greatest hits. The celebrity Aretha fan club included Mary J. Blige, Seal, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Ronald Isley & The Isley Brothers, Jaheim, Gerald & Eddie Levert, Yolanda Adams, Teena Marie and Ruben Studdard. The Queen of Soul was presented with her award by BET head Debra Lee, and told the crowd: "I love you. Get up and PARTY." An excited crowd of 800 guests was treated to Franklin's performance of 'Respect' and 'Freeway of Love.' The event raised $400,000 for the United Negro College Fund, and will be broadcast on BET on 28th October.
