B-roll of Victoria and David Beckham MACCA NAMED WORLD'S RICHEST MUSICIAN, OZZY AND ROBBIE RAKING IT IN In these uncertain economic times, Britain's music millionaires are raking it in. Paul McCartney, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Robbie Williams have been named among the biggest earners of the last year, in the Sunday Time Rich Rich List, published on 27th April 2003. The list of the richest 1,000 people in Britain and Ireland reveals that the 52 music millionaires on this year's rundown are worth a total of £5,656m (sterling). That is £330m more than the combined value of the 48 music millionaires who made it into last year's Rich List, making the overall rise in British music wealth more than 6% in a year. Top of the pops is 60-year-old Sir Paul McCartney who, now worth £760m, becomes one of the 30 richest people in Britain. Sir Paul, who is also the richest musician in the world, moves up to 29th place in the overall list of the richest 1,000 people in Britain and Ireland. Last year he was placed at number 34, when he was worth £713m. McCartney spends modestly but earns heavily from royalties and touring and is well on his way to becoming the world's first billionaire entertainer, Fellow wrinkly rocker Sir Mick Jagger, 59, gets into the top 200 richest people in Britain for the first time, placed at 180 on the list. Largely on the strength of the Stones' Forty Licks tour, Jagger has jumped 23 places up the overall list of Britain's richest 1,000 - he is now worth £175m, up £20m . Earnings from records, royalties and tours have also increased bank balances for David Bowie, 56, and Eric Clapton 58, who have each seen their wealth rise by 20% in the past year. The rise in Bowie's £120m fortune is largely due to the success of his Heathen album released last June. Clapton has earned at least £20m from touring in recent years to put him equal 14th on the music millionaires' list with Bowie and Phil Collins. Robbie Williams, a new entry in 2002, has proved his staying power with a £33m increase in his fortune. Thanks to the new record deal Williams signed with EMI last October, Robbie has become the richest performer under 30. He jumps from 46th position with £35m in 2002 on the list of music millionaires to 28th position in 2003 with £68m. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have also shot up the list of the top music millionaires, doubling their wealth over the past year thanks to the success of MTV's 'The Osbournes'. The reality show has become the most popular show in MTV's 21-year history in America and has made stars of the Black Sabbath front man, his wife Sharon and their two squabbling teenagers Jack and Kelly. They jump from 40th place among the music millionaires in 2002 with £43m to 23 rd position in this year's list with £85m. Simon Fuller records one of the most dramatic rises in the music millionaires' list. Holding steady with £40m in 2001 and 2002, the runaway success of his Pop Idol concept on both sides of the Atlantic has propelled him to £90m this year and a rise of 20 places in the music list to number 21, and a rise of more than 500 places from 874 to 359 in the overall top 1,000. The former manager of the Spice Girls gets a 20% cut of all contestants' earnings and owns the rights to all the shows' songs. His total earnings in 2001-02 alone were £30m, mostly from American Idol.
