Clip: 'Love Story'. 2. SOT Bushwacka: "We've been making tune after tune as 12 inches for a long time and it's just a vibe that we hit on in the studio without any intent whatsoever. We had a funny feeling when we finished it that something different had happened, but it wasn't any conscious attempt to get into mainstream at all whatsoever. " 3. Clip: 'Love Story'. 4. SOT Bushwacka: "Believe it or not the first half, which is not the bit that everyone goes mad to, is the bit that took the most work and the most crafting, getting all the drums. Getting the build up right took a long long time to get right and that is just part of the progress that leads into the second half which is of course the breakdown, the fat bass line, very uplifting, very warm piano and it's just a build up and a build up and a build up. It is a very warm, very happy and when we finished it it was very 'is this going to work? This is a piano house track man. This stuff is just not really going on any more.' " 5. Clip: 'Love Story'. 6. SOT Bushwacka: "I used to engineer in Mr C's studio years and years ago. That is where I first met Layo. I was working in there and Layo came in to write some music with a friend of his and I did the session. I got to know him through Richard as well for Mr C and we did a couple more things where I was engineering where we decided to collaborate a little bit. That is how we started working together. We built up a relationship ever since then. " 7. Clip: 'Love Story'. 8. SOT Bushwacka: "There will be moments but there are so many amazingly rewarding moments as a DJ that I don't think it will ever take away from that. It is an amazing thing to do, be a DJ and getting to give people a good time, give them a party and do what you love." 9. Clip: 'Love Story'. 10. SOT Layo: "what changes is your status. instead of playing at a certain time you get to play the headline slot, and things like that change. I think since the first album about 3 years ago things have been building and building, and building and building. And so what has shifted is the opposition within that. It is almost that we don't really notice until when you come to these places you are suddenly playing at a better time which is obviously a lot better. " 11. Clip: 'Love Story'. LAYO AND BUSHWACKA GET LOVED UP British techno duo LAYO AND BUSHWACKA! are filling dance floors with their new single 'Love Story.' The pair - Layo Paskin and Matthew 'Bushwacka!' B - are known in London for their links with tech-house club the End, founded by the Shamen's Mr. C. Layo is the co-founder, Bushwacka a resident DJ. The two in fact met through Mr C - Layo was an engineer at Mr C's studio when Bushwacka! came in to work on some music. They began writing together, and have since released two albums together on End Recordings, the spin off label from the club - which was itself fast becoming among the most highly rated venues in the country. The first album, 'Low Life' came out in 1998 - including the single 'Deep South'- while the second album 'Night Works' was released in July 2002. The new and broader collection includes the new single, and while fans are voting with the feet on the dancefloor, the duo insist they did not create the tune to win a wider audience. Layo explains they could feel they had created something different while they were still in the studio, but had not intentionally gone in a mainstream direction. He adds the first, slower, half of the single was the hardest to write - the second, dancier section came more quickly. The pair insist even wider-still success won't take them off the decks. Speaking at the highlight of the MTV summer tour, the Isle of MTV in Lisbon, they both say DJing is the most rewarding part of their musical life, albeit higher up the bill these days.
