SOT Pink (on her name) - "Well Pink came from when I was 8 I went to the YMCA for camp and this kid that I had a crush on pulled my pants down in front of everybody, in an auditorium and I had no underwear on and I blushed and turned pink and it basically followed me throughout my life. It was pretty mean when they called me Pink the first time, they were all making fun of me. So it was kind of like a throw ack." BMG Material 7. Video clip 'Get The Party Started' APTN Material 8. SOT Pink (on the reported feud between her and Britney Spears) - "I can be loud and so I can understand if it was true. If you are not the party type then you probably wouldn't want to stand next to me. We get along, I don't think she hates me, if she does she is very good at faking it." 9. GV Pink signing autographs 10. SOT Pink (on upsetting celebrities) - "I upset them all the time, you know because everyone is very good at being diplomatic and I'm not, I've never learnt that, my dad has been trying to teach me for 22 years and it doesn't work with. I guess AMA's a year and a half ago I figured I was going to be a smart ass and I had some lookalikes on stage with me. It didn't really go over too well. Yes I tend to piss off a lot of people." SOT Pink (on wanting to go to Afghanistan) - "I have a tremendous respect for soldiers and anyone that fights for freedom in any kind of way. So I definitely want to do something, I want to do something a little more powerful than going over and singing a song. I'm sure it's a great distraction, it was cool when Marilyin did it but it seems a little... it's seems like it is all done for press." 15. WS presser 16. SOT Pink (on plans for the future) - "Take over the world and change all the laws, I don't know." BMG Material 17. Video clip 'Get The Party Started' by Pink STORYLINE: PINK CORRECTS MISSUNDERZTANDINGS R&B star PINK has been giving a press conference in London to answer questions about her second album 'MISSUNDAZTOOD'. The event gave her the chance to clear up a few long standing questions, and new rumours. For instance, the singer is adamant there is no feud between herself and pop princess Britney Spears. Reports have surfaced that Britney recently changed hotel rooms because Pink was next door partying hard. And lyrics in Pink's next single 'Don't Let Me Get Me' features the line: 'Tired to being compared to damn Britney Spears/She's so damn pretty/That's just not me'. But Pink says there are no hard feelings. "I can be loud and so I can understand if it was true. If you are not the party type then you probably wouldn't want to stand next to me. We get along, I don't think she hates me, if she does she is very good at faking it." Although the singer insists she has never been very good at getting along with other stars, the collaboration with Lil Kim, Christina Aguilera, Mya and Missy Elliot for the smash hit 'Lady Marmalade' seems to have been an exception. And demand for their version is still high - "We are doing that again for the Grammies so we will never be through with that. It was fun, it wasn't as dramatic as everyone thought it was going to be, collaborations are fun." Another persistent misunderstanding is the relationship between her nickname and her hair colour. Pink (born Alicia Moore) set things straight once and for all - "Well Pink came from when I was 8 I went to the YMCA for camp and this kid that I had a crush on pulled my pants down in front of everybody, in an auditorium and I had no underwear on and I blushed and turned pink and it basically followed me througout my life. It was pretty mean when they called me Pink the first time, they were all making fun of me. So it was kind of like a thowback." The first single off the album, 'Get The Party Started', is currently at number 2 in the UK charts, and has already been a hit in the Billboard hot 100. 'Missunderztood' is the follow-up to her double-platinum debut album, 'Can't Take Me Home' The singer had a hand in writing 95 percent of songs on the new disc, and has incorporated the talents of some major guest stars. Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora both feature, as does R&B producer Dallas Austin. The collection also includes the song 'My Vietnam', which ends with 'The Star-Spangled Banner'. Pink's patriotism is strong enough to make her want to do something for the troops in Afghanistan. But despite being inspired by Marylin Monroe's morale boosting trip to Korea, she's not sure a mere performance is enough. "I have a tremendous respect for soldiers and anyone that fights for freedom in any kind of way. So I definitely want to do something, I want to do something a little more powerful than going over and singing a song. I'm sure it's a great distraction, it was cool when Marilyn did it but it seems a little... it's seems like it is all done for press." As for other plans for the future, Pink is keeping her options open - "Take over the world and change all the laws, I don't know." 'Missunderztood' is due for release in the UK on 28th January 2002.
