The 24-year-old British yachtswoman, who crossed the finishing line for the Globe race late on Sunday, said she would compete in the Atlantic challenge race in July. She would use her yacht Kingfisher - but this time with a crew, she told a news conference in Les Sables d'Olonne, France. Competitors in the race have to sail from Europe to the United States and take part in several legs off the American continent before returning to Europe. MacArthur looked less exhausted than when she finished second in the Vendee Globe - and set records as the fastest woman and youngest person to circumnavigate the Earth in a single-handed race. She said had got three hours sleep on Sunday night, which was more than she had had in any previous night of the last three months. She was looking forward to going back home to Derbyshire with her parents, Ken and Avril, in the next few days, but said she wanted to stay in France to perhaps see some more of the Vendee competitors finish the race. MacArthur came second in the Vendee Globe boat race. The 25-thousand nautical mile voyage took her 94 days, four hours, 25 minutes and 40 seconds. That time smashed the previous best by a woman - France's Catherine Chabaud's record of 140 days was set in 1997, when she became the first woman to finish a non-stop solo around the world voyage. MacArthur was the youngest competitor in the 2000-2001 Vendee Globe, which began at Les Sables d'Olonne on November 9 and took skippers across three oceans and past three capes. While still at school, the Briton saved up for three years to buy her first boat, an eight-foot (three metre) dinghy. When she was 18, she won Britain's Young Sailor of the Year award and sailed around Britain and Ireland in her first major solo voyage. MacArthur has since sailed across the Atlantic several times, single-handed and with other skippers. The Vendee Globe race was won by Frenchman Michel Desjoyeaux, who finished on Saturday. SOUNDBITE: (English) "Just feels, just feels like too much, it's like you could never imagine, both to do the race and to be here right now. The best moment? Probably right now, and the worst moment is going to be in about 30 seconds time when I have to get off the boat and walk up the pontoon, and I don't want to say goodbye to her (Kingfisher yacht)." SUPER CAPTION: Ellen MacArthur, Round-the-world Yachtswoman SOUNDBITE: (English) "It was the most amazing experience of my life and to see so many people come just to see me it almost felt like there should be someone standing behind me and I almost felt in my own mind that they were here to see the boat and I was just the pilot and it was her who sailed around the world and I was just the lucky person to be on board her." SUPER CAPTION: Ellen MacArthur, Round-the-world Yachtswoman SOUNDBITE: (English) "The last 12 hours have been some of the most incredible of my life, without a doubt. Coming in last night was a mixture of emotions. It was almost a dread of finishing the race because I was so happy out there, but also complete elation at finishing and coming back in to the welcome of literally hundreds of thousands of people and it is really hard to describe how that felt." SUPER CAPTION: Ellen MacArthur, Round-the-world Yachtswoman SOUNDBITE: (English) "This is a superb achievement you know. Of course Ellen has been building up to it and one shouldn't think this is just something that has happened automatically. She has been working very hard for this for a number of years. When did we first meet Ellen, '94 or '95 I think and you know she has built up for this point and boy what a tremendous performance."
