The teenage singing sensation spent three years of her childhood in Japan, and told the assembled press how glad she was to be back in her "second home". And just to make her feel really welcome, the cult Japanese character 'Hello Kitty' presented Christina with a bouquet of flowers. The nineteen year old also spoke about her excitement over her nominations for this year's Grammy Awards, where she'll be up against Madonna in the 'Best Female Pop Vocalist' category. The nominations have left fans wondering how Christina will fare against the Queen of Pop when the Grammy results are announced on February 21st. Not to mention whether she will be able to emulate her success last year, when she beat off competition from arch-rival Britney Spears to win the 'Best New Artist' Grammy. Christina's current tour has seen her travelling through Latin America, and the singer is certainly playing on her Ecuadorian roots to court the huge Latin market. Late last year she released a Spanish-language album, 'Mi Reflejo', which features six original songs as well as Spanish versions of her worldwide smash hits 'Genie In A Bottle', 'What A Girl Wants' and 'Come On Over Baby' ('Genio Atrapado', 'Una Mujer' and 'Ven Conmigo' respectively. 'Mi Reflejo' has been a huge hit in the Spanish-speaking world, and has earned Christina a further Grammy nomination for best Latin Pop Album. The singer gave the Tokyo crowd a sample of her Spanish songs. The Spanish language single 'Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti' ('Then I Remember You') is due to be released in Japan in mid-February. Christina's latest English offering is 'Nobody Wants To Be Lonely', her duet with fellow Latin sensation RICKY MARTIN. It will be released at the end of February. SHOTLIST: 1.
