Demonstrators carry signs and American flags. VS people marching, including children - mixed race but mostly white. Sign, "End Military SlaVery." 23:20:28:03 Color 1966 MS counter-demonstration. Demonstrators hold up signs. CU signs, "Support Our Sons in Vietnam," "Better Dead Than Red," "Russian GO HOME." Pro-war activists march towards Peace march and face off. Clash in middle of avenue. VS clash, demonstrators running, men beat each other with placards - irony. Signs, "The Only Good Commie is a Dead Commie," "Beware - The Reds are Masters of Deceit." Counter-demonstrators walk alongside large peace march. VS busy commercial street in Newport with lots of people walking up and down wearing swimsuits, bikinis. Young men on balcony, smoking. One gives v-sign, peace sign. Kids sit on kerb outside of restaurant and give peace sign for CAM, cute. VS teenagers waving, gawking, at CAM. CU man wearing helmet with spike on top. VS of very young couple, teenagers, smiling and posing for CAM, young love. 23:30:30:17 Color 1966 VS Nixon rally - people wait in large car park, balloons in air, secret service agents, excellent shot of motorcycle cops standing around. Balloons float across cloudy sky. Motorcade through narrow street, four secret service agents run alongside car. They jump into moving convertible - very dramatic. VS Nixon supporters holding signs, Uncle Sam on stilts. Platform in middle of carpark with cameramen shooting, surrounded by crowd waiting for Richard Nixon. Sign, "Rafferty for US Senator," "We Want Dick!" "Hi Dick." 23:33:02:24 Color 1966 Richard and Pat Nixon greet rally from platform. Nixon waves and gives crowd peace sign, excellent. Signs, "Nixon Si, Others No." Man stands in hot air balloon basket. MS cop on roof of building. VS rally. Woman on platform speaks. MS inflated hot air balloon. VS inflating hot air balloon as people, including secret servicemen, stand around and watch. VS as balloon rises with man in basket and Nixon sign hanging from basket. VS crowd at rally. CU people at rally and Nixon Agnew balloons
