Description: | Color 1980 Educational film about George Washington, cast as a drama. A portrait painter visits Washington in his retirement, and the two have a casual conversation that just happens to cover all the phases of Washington's career. (He talks about his boyhood on the Virginia frontier, his role in the Revolution, his attitudes toward democracy vs autocracy, and provides a nice rationalization for slavery.) Unfortunately for our purposes, the actor playing Washington doesn't look too much like George Washington, so the shots don't read well. With Robert Carroll as Washington, and Grant Gattschalle as Archibald Robertson, the painter.00:23:28:00 Color 1980 ws George Washington picks up a framed picture of Martha Washington, ZI |
