Color 1956 Educational film about everyday life in the Middle Ages. Filmed around the Mont Breve castle in France, it consists of historical recreations of life in the feudal system, from the serf to the lord of the manor. Nothing much happens - the dramatic highlight occurs when the miller is put on trial, and fined, for grinding gritty flour - but there are lots of simple, quick-read shots of Medieval times. The whole film appears to have been pinched from some European feature production. 00:00:30:00 Color 1956 ws Medieval castle, oxcart passes guard with lance peasant plows field PAN farm fields. 00:02:10:00 Color 1956 ms ws Medieval historical recreation: Two noblemen walk along castle rampart two men practice swordfighting medieval blacksmiths at work cobbler. 00:05:22:00 Color 1956 vs Castle with surrounding village Medieval women examine garments nobleman on horseback trades with merchants in town square peasant working in field. 00:07:54:00 Color 1956 vs Medieval house INT peasant woman cooking at hearth, joined by man nobleman enters cottage. 00:12:14:00 Color 1956 ws ms Stone church EXT INT church, man makes sign of the cross, prays, medieval priest lights candles two monks meet and converse. 00:14:45:00 Color 1956 ms Bell ringing in medieval church bell tower, good castle INT, beautiful young woman, ZO as medieval noblewomen fuss over her Medieval villagers at outdoor feast, peasants dancing (suggests Breugel painting) cooks prepare feast, pig roasting on spit peasants watch wrestling match two medieval noblemen play shuttlecock (forerunner of badminton) archery noblewoman shoots bow and arrow nobles dine at banquet table, MS, CU PAN castle EXT, knights exit Medieval scholar reading scroll, monastery INT
