Color 1982 Gary US Bonds interview While Michael Ochs has been collecting the past, one performer, Gary US Bonds has, with a little help from his friends, managed to bring himself back from the nostalgic oblivion. He was one of the rock's classic performers, ever since the early 1960s when his songs like "New Orleans" and "Quarter to Three" were on everyone's radio. But after two years of overwhelming success, Bonds began to slip into obscurity. The American public has turned their fickle attentions to four upstart englishmen, who consequently had backed Gary and Roy Orbison on a tour to Europe. Especially after the Beatles came it was a time for change but BOND never gave up performing and through the better part of two decades played in small clubs, roadhouses and discos up and down the east coast. Bond's resurrection was in no small part engineered with the capable assistance of Bruce Springsteen. "Dedications", Bonds' comeback album was produced by Bruce and the E-Street band. Gary recalls their first meeting: Transcription in the BONDS VW Segement file.
