Description: | B W 1915 with Mack Swain, Vivian Edwards, Chester Conklin, billie Brockwell, Estelle Allen, Billie Bennett, Joseph Swickard Chester (Walrus) and his wife (Billie Brockwell) own a rundown hotel and most of their guests are broke Among the guests are an acrobat (Mack Swain) and his lovely wife (Vivian Edwards) of whom Walrus becomes enamored The fire insurance is about to be cancelled for nonpayment of premium, a situation Walrus remedies by taking out his gun and visiting various guests Just then, he notices a fire in a wastebasket but instead of putting the fire out, he rushes off to the insurance agent, just in time to prevent cancellation of the policy By the time he returns to the hotel, the firemen are there Amborse (Swain) becomes a hero when he saves some guests by becoming a human bridge, but when Walrus accidentally retrieves his coat which the fireman are using in lieu of a net for Ambrose, a fight ensues between the two Walrus puts the cash he has just received in payment of his policy on the window sill, the firemen turn the hose on it and the money is lost The final scene shows Ambrose with his arm around Walrus, trying to console him |
