(laughter) 01:28:41 CUs of fire 01:29:14 MS of Poet at campfire Poet: This is about the life of a cowboy. In movies they're mostly shootin' They're riding hard and fast But that ain't the life of a cowboy. Either now or in the past See mostly I'm by myself (**audio drops a little when joe moves away) Solitude is the rule I don't want to be in an office, or a factor, or in a school Crowds make me uneasy People everywhere I think they're looking at me with a puzzled stare I do look kind of funny with a beard and unkept hair 01:29:50 WS of everyone around campfire roasting marshmellows Poet: And God knows I need a change of underwear I ain't touched soap for so long. I know it's a downright sin But you won't really mind if you stay away 01:30:01 MS of Joe by the fire roasting marshmallows. Poet: And just remain upwind. My lips are cracked and chapped and there are teeth that are broke or missing. I know this ain't the kind of mug a lady likes a kissing. 01:30:14 CUs of fire and marshmallows - NICE rack focus shot of fire ** Poet: I've been out in the sun and rain and every kind of weather. It's warped my hat, soiled my clothes and turned my skin to leather. I ain't got no fancy duds like showroom cowboys wear. If I walked up in said clothes, that would kill my trusty mare. I travel on my horse for days by the score 01:30:34 MS of poet. Poet: But I'm riding nice and easy because my butt is awful sore. I'm happiest on my horse underneath the sky With grass and trees and cactus passing me by 01:30:48 MCU of two cowboys. Poet: We have lengthy conversations My horse my dog and me Mostly we talk at night or when I stop to pee I'm not fighting or shooting or chasing men in black I'm just taking care of my horse, my dog, and my tack I treasure my possessions although they're very few 01:31:09 WS of everyone around fire roasting marshmallows; slow tilt to sunset *** I'll share them with a friend or even someone like you Of all the things that I possess, there's one that's near and dear That's the freedom to come and go and remain out in the clear But there is one thing I miss if your really have to know And that's the soft skin of a women and her parts both high and low (dog barks, people laugh) Gees! 01:31:34 Shots of moon in night sky; tilt down to everyone gathered around fire. ** Poet: But if I really had one to be with all the time Why, I'd be giving up my freedom. It would no longer be mine. It's one or the other. At least that's how it seems. A wife to lie beside me or the woman of my dreams I mad the choice long ago. I'm alone as you can see. I've opted for my bachelorhood 01:31:59 MS profile shot of cowboy by fire. ** And a life in which I'm free City folks look at me and wonder with their head Why the hell is he like that? I'd rather I be dead. I have an answer for them. It's my own philosophy. Compared to all who think that. I'd rather me with me. I'm hardly ever shooting. I ain't riding hard or fast. 'Cause that ain't the life of a cowboy either now or in the past. 01:32:30 WS of group from behind (quick) (Applause) 01:32:44 OTS over Joe of fire. 01:33:06 CU profile shot of Joe ################### (0:00) /
