Jacksonville, Florida JoAnne Karbiwnyk, Former Smoker Theodore Grossman, R.J. Reynolds Attorney
WOMAN WEARING PEARLS IN COURTROOM, COURTROOM SHOTS OF LAWYERS, JUDGE, SOTs
A jury in Jacksonville, Florida ruled in favor of the R-J Reynolds tobacco company in a case brought to trial by an Orange Park woman. She had claimed R-J Reynolds was negligent and produced a defective product. JoAnne Karbiwnyk (carbon-nick) says the cigarette maker was responsible for her lung and brain cancer. After eight hours of deliberations...a jury found there was no negligence on the part of R-J reynolds. And that the cigarettes were nor unreasonably dangerous or defective. For the second time...Attorney Norwood Wilner has lost a tobacco lawsuit. The jury did not buy the argument R-J Reynolds misled the public about the dangers of smoking.
