LEAD: 500 boats encircled a pod of Orcas forcing the frantic animals into the shoreline. A whale expert says that's what happened in Dyes Inlet over the weekend. Reporter Richard Thompson says it may be time to consider closing the inlet to whale watchers. SCRIPT: (NATSND) Marine patrols are in Dyes Inlet everyday making sure boaters give a pod of Orcas feeding here enough space. (SOT) But his weekend more than 500 boats were on the water...and a whale expert watching the pod says the armada of curious boaters got way out of control.
