FANS WATCHING GAME/CHEERING/SHOT FROM GAME/SOTS
THINGS ARE LOOOKING ROSY IN EVANSTON THIS AFTERNOON. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1949... THE NORTHWESTERN WILDCATS FOOTBALL TEAM IS HEADED FOR PASADENA TO PLAY IN THE ROSE BOWL ON NEW YEAR'S DAY. THEY SECURED THE BERTH TODAY WHEN MICHIGAN UPSET OHIO STATE... WHICH MEANS NORTHWESTERN SITS ALONE AT THE TOP OF THE BIG TEN CONFERENCE. THE WILDCATS WILL FACE THE U-S-C TROJANS ON JANUARY 1ST.
LEAD: WELL...ALL YOU CAN SAY IS...WHO'D A THOUGHT?? THEY JUST KEPTS GOING AND GOING UNTIL THEY MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE ROSE BOWL. YES, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THOSE NORTHWESTERN WILDCATS. AND WORD IS...SO IS EVERYBODY ELSE! NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CAMPUS AND EVANSTON ARE ABUZZ WITH THE NEWS. EVELYN HOLMES HAS MORE ON TEAM AND FAN REACTION.
