A TEENAGER IS IN CUSTODY FOR THE RAPE AND MURDER OF AN ELDERLY WOMAN.
LEAD: A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD BOY IS IN DETENTION, CHARGED WITH RAPE AND MURDER. SCRIPT: VO/ NAT THE TEEN WAS ARRESTED JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT AT HIS HOME IN SHELBYVILLE. HE IS ACCUSED OF KILLING 77 YEAR OLD MARY EVELYN MCKEE, WHO LEFT HOME 11 DAYS AGO FOR A WALK AND NEVER CAME BACK. POLICE FOUND HER BODY NEAR HER HOUSE. SHELBYVILLE POLICE CHIEF JOHN MILLER SAYS THE ARREST IS A BIG RELIEF TO A SMALL TOWN JOLTED BY THE SLAYING. SOT FULL: OUTQ ARREST HAS BEEN MADE. VONATS CONT: POLICE ARE NOT SAYING WHAT MOTIVATED THE MURDER... BUT KENTUCKY STATE POLICE CAPTAIN RODNEY BREWER SAYS INVESTIGATORS SUSPECTED FOR SEVERAL DAYS THAT A JUVENILE HAD KILLED MCKEE. HE SAYS THAT'S BECAUSE VIOLENCE AT THE SCENE SUGGESTED A TEENAGER.
