LEAD: Two nine-year-old girls lay comatose this morning, after being struck by a pickup truck involved in a high speed chase with C-H-P officers yesterday. Romeo Cantu reports. SCRIPT: (NATSND) This is the outcome of a police pursuit that took a tragic turn. Two Lakeside school girls were hit in this chase as it came to an end here near the intersection of Lemoncrest and Julian Avenue. The girls had been walking home from Lemoncrest elementary school with two friends. (SOT) (SOT) Paramedics rushed one of the girls to Childrens' Hospital...the other was airlifted there. (NATSND) The passenger in the truck was also injured...rescue crews had to pry him out, to carry him out of the culvert. As for the driver, C-H-P officials say he was uninjured. (NATSND) The chase that led to the accident started just a mile away. C-H-P officers saw someone driving a truck wrecklessly...the officer gave chase. (SOT) But C-H-P officials say the driver of the truck didn't stop...he kept going and shortly thereafter came upon those four little girls, walking home from school. (SOT)
