LEAD: YOU'VE HEARD THE SAYING, ONE MANS TRASH IS ANOTHER MANS TREASURE." WELL THAT COULDN'T BE MORE TRUE FOR A MISSISSIPPI MAN. HE FOUND AN OLD FILM CANISTER IN A GARBAGE DUMP AND WHAT WAS INSIDE COULD BE WORTH MORE THAN 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS. CATHY COGGIN EXPLAINS. TAKE PKG: THE DATE WAS FEBRUARY 7, 1964. IT WAS THE DAY THE BEATLES ARRIVED IN NEW YORK CITY. TWO DAYS LATER THEY TOOK THE U.S. BY STORM AS 70 MILLION VIEWERS WATCHED THEM PERFORM ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW. NOW, AN EIGHT MILIMETER TAPE HAS SURFACED IN TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI THAT LOOKS TO BE AN ORIGINAL OF THAT EVENT. SOT "I drive a garbage truck.... looking around." STANDFORD BROUGHT THE TAPE HOME, DUG OUT HIS OLD 8MM PROJECTOR AND THIS IS WHAT HE FOUND, THE TAPE CONTAINS THE ARRIVAL AT J.F.K AIRPORT AND THE SUBSEQUENT NEWS CONFERENCE. THEN STANDFORD STARTED SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET. SOT STANFORD HOPES TO SELL THE TAPE, BUT HAS NO IDEA WHAT IT'S REALLY WORTH. WE CONTACTED A HISTORICAL FILMS PRODUCTION HOUSE IN NEW YORK AND THEY SAID THEY'D HAVE TO SEE THE TAPE TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE OF ITS WORTH. STILL, STANFORD HAS HIGH HOPES HE CAN CASH IN ON THIS TREASURE. SOT MIDSOUTH
