LEAD: A FATHER FROM TAMPA WHO'D COMPLAINED HIS DAUGHTER WAS BEING MOLESTED AT SCHOOL ENDED UP IN JAIL HIMSELF LAST NIGHT (WEDNESDAY). WARREN ELY HAS THAT STORY. (TAKE PKG) SCRIPT: NATS: "mr. futch, you're facing life in prison. you have been charged with kidnapping." DAVID FUTCH'S FAMILY SAYS HE ONLY WANTED TO RIGHT A WRONG...TO END WHAT HE BELIEVED WAS THE IMPROPER TOUCHING OF HIS 10-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER AT THE TAMPA BAPTIST ACADEMY. AT THE SCHOOL LATE WEDNESDAY, FUTCH WAS TOLD POLICE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE. SOT/Det. John Yaratch: "he related that he'd touch any of the girls he wanted to and i wouldn't be able to do anything about that because things didn't go the way he thought his case should be handled." ENRAGED, THE CHARGES SAY, FUTCH WENT AFTER A 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL. SOT/Judge Walter Heinrich: "grabbed the victim by the back of her shirt, when he did he pulled her very roughly." STANDUP: "the futchs say there's a lot more to this story than what's in this police report. they say an earlier case here involving a church worker and a student greatly magnified their concerns about what might have been happening to their daughter." NATS: "you're too old for her.." LAST YEAR, FORMER CHURCH YOUTH MINISTER DAN ALLMOND PLEAD GUILTY TO ILLEGAL SEX WITH A 14-YEAR-OLD ACADEMY STUDENT. FUTCH'S WIFE SAYS THE EARLIER CASE PLAYED ON HER HUSBAND'S MIND AS HE WORRIED ABOUT HIS OWN DAUGHTER'S COMPLAINTS. SOT/Leslie Futch: "that has bothered my husband since it happened, and he just reacted i guess in a way that he needed to protect his daughter." THE: "i think it would drive a normal father crazy." PSYCHIATRIST DR. WALTER AFIELD SAYS WHERE A DAUGHTER'S CONCERNED, THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A FATHER'S RAGE. SOT/Dr. Walter Afield: "the police come and as he perceives it do nothing, go right through the roof that is the normal response of any man." AFIELD SAYS NONE OF THAT EXCUSES WHAT FUTCH PUT INNOCENT CHILDREN THROUGH. SOT/Afield: "in light of the situation, i certainly don't think there was any intent to kidnap anyone." FUTCH'S LAWYERS TRYING TO GET CHARGES REDUCED AND... SOT/Luke Lirot: "a significant reduction of the bond...we're not doing that at this moment counsel, we're going to get that straight right now." INSTEAD JUDGE WALTER HEINRICH ORDERED A MENTAL HEALTH EXAM. SOT: "make sure all of our children are safe." AND BACK AT TAMPA BAPTIST ACADEMY, THE PASTOR FINDS HIMSELF REASSURING PARENTS FOR TEH SECOND TIME IN AS MANY YEARS. WARREN ELY, FOX 13 NEWS. TAG: AFTER MEETING WITH A PSYCHIATRIST AT THE JAIL TONIGHT, FUTCH IS DUE BACK IN COURT FOR A BAIL HEARING TOMORROW MORNING. FLORIDA
