A HUGE VINYL GORILLA USED TO ATTRACT ATTENTION TO A RETAIL BUSINESS HAS BEEN RECOVERED AFTER HAVING BEEN CUT FROM ITS TETHERS AND STOLEN. IT'S A BIG SOUTHWEST WHODUNIT.
LEAD: THE KIDNAPPING OF A PLASTIC PRIMATE IS SOLVED. WE FIRST TOLD YOU ABOUT THE GORILLA NAPPING OVER THE WEEKEND. OUR CRIME REPORTER GINA GALAVIZ SHOWS US YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHY IT WAS TAKEN. (TAKE PKG) SCRIPT: NATS HE'S A FEROCIOUS GORILLA GIMMICK...NOW YOU SEE HIM...NOW YOU DON'T. SOMETIME SATURDAY MORNING, THE FACTORY HOMES OF AMERICA MASCOT WAS NABBED OFF HIS MANUFACTURING THRONE...MISSING FOUR DAYS, BUT HE WAS FOUND DUMPED HERE ON HIGHWAY 211 AND HIGHWAY 90...NOT FAR AWAY. SOT/Robi Vick: "got a call from a girl who would not leave her name that said she knew where the gorilla was." ROBI VICK'S BOSS TOOK THE CALL...THE FOUND OUT THE PRANK WAS PULLED BY SOME MEDINA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. SOT/Robi Vick: "the kids had allegedly take this gorilla and put it in the garage and were using it for a trampoline." REPORTER STANDUP: "the prank wasn't an easy one to do...the kids had to pull up the stakes and they're really down there in the ground. then, they had to walk over to the house....get a ladder...climb up so they could get to the gorilla." THEN THEY PULLED THE 22 FOOT GORILLA OFF THE ROOF, WITHOUT ANYONE SEEING THEM, QUITE A STUNT....BUT SOME SAY IT'S JUST MONKEY BUSINESS COMPARED TO WHAT ONE MEDINA VALLEY STUDENT ONCE DID. SOT/Barbara Ann Caldwell: "he ran through the football field naked...it was a couple of years ago." THE COMPANY ISN'T PRESSING CHARGES. THE MASCOT IS BACK, AS GOOD AS NEW...ALMOST.
