HENDRIX WILL ENTER THE HALL AS PART OF HIS PSYCHEDELIC '60S GROUP THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE. HENDRIX DIED OF A DRUG OVERDOSE IN 1970. OTHER ARTISTS TO BE INDUCTED INCLUDE THE ROCK GROUP YARDBIRDS THE RHYTHM AND BLUES ACTS SAM AND DAVE BOOKER T. AND THE M-GS THE ISLEY BROTHERS AND BLUES SINGER BOBBY ``BLUE'' BLAND. CASH WAS SELECTED FOR HIS WORK IN ``ROCKABILLY'' MUSIC. SELECTED AS EARLY INFLUENCERS OF ROCK WERE ELMORE JAMES AND PROFESSOR LONGHAIR. LEO FENDER WHO DEVELOPED THE ELECTRIC GUITAR WAS CHOSEN AS A NON-PERFORMING INDUCTEE ALONG WITH SONGWRITER DOC POMUS. INDUCTION CEREMONIES WILL BE HELD IN NEW YORK AT A DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER.
