RUN TIME: 11:31 CAPTAIN JOHN HANDY (1900 - JANUARY 12, 1971) WAS BORN IN PASS CHRISTIAN, MISSISSIPPI AND DIED IN NEW ORLEANS. HE WAS A MUSICIAN, WHO PLAYED ALTO SAXOPHONE AND CLARINET AND PERFORMED OFTEN AT PRESERVATION HALL. A VIEWING WAS HELD JANUARY 14 AT THE RHODES FUNERAL HOME, 1716 N. CLAIBORNE AVENUE, AND WAKE SERVICES WERE HELD THE NEXT DAY AT THE GOOD WILL BAPTIST CHURCH, IN PASS CHRISTIAN, MISSISSIPPI. INTERMENT WAS AT LIVE OAK CEMETERY IN PASS CHRISTIAN. BRASS BAND MUSICIANS ARE SEEN RIDING AND GETTING OFF A BUS AND THEN MARCHING TO THE CHURCH, OUT AGAIN, AND THEN TO THE GRAVESITE. FATS HOUSTON AND ANDERSON MINOR ARE SEEN AS GRAND MARSHALS IN A PROCESSION THAT INCLUDES THE OLYMPIA BRASS BAND. FATS IS SEEN DANCING IN A BRIEF SEQUENCE.
