"A horrible stench."</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>To say he was excited would be an understatement.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"I feel like a kid in a candy store with an unlimited budget," Davis said.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>He knew exactly what it was. Serendipitously, the discovery was made on Memorial Day weekend. Davis had heard stories about pieces of Nazi loot lost during World War II washing up on Texas beaches. One had been found on the Padre Island National Seashore back in March.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>In 1944, a German blockade runner called the SS Rio Grande was spotted by American ships off the coast of Brazil. The USS Omaha and USS Jouet fired on the Nazi ship, sending it and its cargo three miles down to the bottom of the ocean. The entire loot remained there until about three years ago when the floating bales of rubber started washing ashore. What makes the find even more exciting are the tales of Nazi treasure they may contain.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"I think the gold came from the fact that a lot of people think that he (Adolph Hitler) would escape to Argentina," Davis said. "And so, he was packing the gold for him to have when he made it there, if he made it there."</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Weighing more than 300 pounds, Davis had to call in for backup to get the bale off the beach.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"So, I called my friend Joe, I said, 'Come down here now, were going to load this up in the Jeep, take it back to the house and start cutting it open," Davis said.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Their effort didnt result in gold, though, only more of that nasty smell.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"Yeah, we were at that point like maybe we should just take this back to the beach and give it back to mother nature," Davis said.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Davis said hes contacted a few footwear companies with hopes of giving away the Nazi rubber so that it could find a more useful purpose.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"Nobody really wanted to clean an 80-year-old chunk of rubber to try to make sandals out of it," Davis said.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Since there havent been any takers, hes been busy cutting cubes from the hunk of rubber, and giving the blocks to friends. But hes not done yet. NEW YORK CELEBRATES THANKSGIVING
Americans across the US were celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday with parades, football, and turkey.
New York City hosted the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Highlights included giant inflatable balloons of famous cartoon characters including Scooby Doo and Sponge Bob Squarepants.
The Macy's parade started in 1924 and has been an annual tradition, cancelled only in the World War II years of 1942 to 1944.
The balloons, including Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer, the parade's first Latina balloon character, shared top billing with 10 marching bands, 27 floats and performers such as LeAnn Rimes, Aaron Neville and Kristin Chenoweth.

STORYLINE
The Princess of Monaco and Prince Albert II were wed in a star-studded religious ceremony in Monaco on Saturday, with thousands more watching the proceedings on giant screens across the principality.
A day after the civil wedding of one-time Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert II, the couple exchanged 18 carat white gold platinum rings by Cartier in the princely palace.
One of the many giant screens was set up outside the palace, giving viewers the chance to see the bride in the flesh as she arrived for the Catholic ceremony.
French president Nicolas Sarkozy was also given a warm reception upon his arrival.
Later, large crowds lined the streets of Monaco to cheer the royal couple.
More well-wishers gathered outside Sainte Devote church, where the princess left her bouquet of flowers - a Monegasque tradition.
The prince and princess will join 450 guests for a multi-course dinner prepared by celebrated French-born chef Alain Ducasse.
