89094 CITY DRIVING -- 1959 FORD MOTOR CO. DRIVER'S EDUCATION FILM PHOENIX AZ
This short educational film, “City Driving,” is produced by the Ford Motor Company, and it is one in a series in cooperation with the National Commission On Safety Education. “City Driving” is filmed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1959, and it promotes safe driving in a city environment, featuring 1960 Ford Falcons. The main car used Central High School’s 1960 Ford Falcon Driver Education car. The film covers what to do and not to do in a number of situations, focusing on the following safe driving rules: observe traffic controls; don’t assume other people to do the expected; be willing to yield the right of way to anyone who needs it; and constantly analyze the situation ahead. The film teaches these concepts as it follows the Driver Education car throughout the city and suburbs of Phoenix. Notable footage includes driving down Van Buren Street with Read Mullan Motor Co. Ford Showroom (which donated the 1960 Ford Falcons for the project) on the right and the Security Building on the left (01:03), and a fire engine leaving its station and driving through the city (07:50).

We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
