On October 26, 1998, Tyler, Texas State Troopers Barry Goines and Jasmine Andreason stop a car and get more than just traffic violators. The passenger is escaped convict Sidney Byrd. Byrd pulls a gun and puts it to Goines’ neck. Goines pulls away and he and Andreason blast away as Byrd flees the scene.A traffic stop takes a dangerous turn when the suspect puts a gun to trooper Barry Goines’ head as Trooper Jasmine Andreasen watches the other suspect. Trooper Goines suddenly grabs the gun and shoots several times at the suspects as they runs into the woods.

A COP PULLS A PASSENGER OUT OF A CAR AND CUFFS HIM AND LEAVES HIM HANDCUFFED IN THE MIDDLE OF A DARK ROAD. THEN, THE DRIVER DECIDES TO TAKE OFF AND LEAVE HIM. HE IS EVENTUALLY STOPPED AND PULLED OUT OF HIS WINDOW. IT STARTED AS A DOMESTIC DISPUTE BETWEEN BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND AND IT ENDED WITH BULLETS FLYING AND WINDSHIELDS SHATTERING.AFTER THE GIRLFRIEND REPORTED HER CAR STOLEN, HER RECENTLY DUMPED BOYFRIEND TURNED UP WITH THE MISSING VEHICLE AND A GUN. THE BOYFRIEND WAS TRYING TO GET INTO THE APARTMENT THEY HAD ONCE SHARED. POLICE SPOTTED THE MAN PULLING OUT OF THE COMPLEX. HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND APPEARED TO BE UNHARMED, DESPITE SIGNS OF WINDSHIELD CRASHING GUNFIRE.AFTER THE OFFICERS PULLED OVER THE MAN, OFFICERS SAY THEY FOUND THE DRIVER WITH A SEMIAUTOMATIC PISTOL POINTED AT HIS OWN HEAD. THE "SUICIDE STANDOFF ONLY LASTED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE SUSPECT SPED OFF.THE SUSPECT EVENTUALLY LOST CONTROL OF HIS SPEEDING CAR AND IT LANDED ON THE WRONG SIDE OF A CONCRETE LANE BARRIER. POLICE SAY HE THEN TURNED AND SPED DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE WRONG WAY, WEAVING IN BETWEEN THE ONCOMING CRUISERS, WHICH TURNED AND FOLLOWED.the stolen car struck an innocent motorist before spinning out of control in a cloud of smoke and being hit by a squad car, ending the chase. both suspect and crash-victim were flown to a nearby hospital and treated for their injuries. the suspect would later be found to be intoxicated at the time.
