The footage shows the chaos of the moment in which alleged assailant David DePape attacked the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. </p>\n<p> In the video, Paul Pelosi and DePape both appear to have a hand on the hammer and DePape is holding Pelosi's arm when the officers opened the door. </p>\n<p> "Drop the hammer," the officer says. </p>\n<p> "Uh, nope," DePape responds. </p>\n<p> DePape then grabbed the hammer out of Pelosi's hand and lunged toward him. The officers rushed into the home, subduing DePape and handcuffing him. </p>\n<p> CNN has obtained the CD containing the files released by the court. In addition to the body-cam footage, the files include audio from police interviews with DePape, the 911 call Paul Pelosi made while DePape was in the home and home surveillance video, the court previously said.</p>\n<p> The videos were exhibits in a preliminary court hearing. The court's decision mandating the public release of the materials came following a motion by a coalition of news organizations, including CNN, arguing that the circumstances involving the residence of the then-speaker of the House demanded transparency.</p>\n<p> Lawyers for DePape argued against the public release of the audio and footage, writing it would "irreparably damage" his right to a fair trial. DePape has pleaded not guilty to a litany of state and federal crimes related to the attack, including assault and attempted murder.</p>\n<p> Pelosi was violently attacked in October with a hammer at the couple's home by a male assailant who was searching for the then-House speaker, according to court documents -- a development that ultimately drove Nancy Pelosi's decision to step back from House Democratic leadership.</p>\n<p> Court documents revealed DePape allegedly woke Paul Pelosi shortly after 2 a.m., carrying a large hammer and several white zip ties, and demanded: "Where's Nancy? Where's Nancy?" He then threatened to tie up Paul Pelosi and prevented him from escaping via elevator, according to the documents. DePape later allegedly told him, "I can take you out."</p>\n<p> Paul Pelosi placed a 911 call after convincing the assailant to let him go to the bathroom, where his phone was charging, and he spoke cryptically to police.</p>\n<p> Following the attack, Paul Pelosi underwent surgery "to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands," a spokesman for Nancy Pelosi said in a statement. </p>\n<p> On Thursday, the Democratic congresswoman told reporters that her husband's recovery is "one day at a time."</p>\n<p> "He's made some progress but it'll be about at least three more months, I think, until he'll be back to normal, but the prayers are very helpful," Pelosi said.</p>\n<p> She told reporters Thursday that she had not seen video from the incident and does not know if she will.</p>\n<p> "It would be a very hard thing to see an assault on my husband's life. But I don't know."</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>CNN's Kevin Flower, Jessica Dean and Taylor Romine contributed to his report.</b></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>™ & © 2023 Cable News Network, Inc., a WarnerMedia Company. Kevin Spacey on the New York Theater Industry Recovering After 9/11
Kevin Spacey: Well I tried personally to help, I did a radio spot along with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane to try to get audiences to start coming back to the theatre, and in fact that and another big advertising campaign they’ve had in New York has really had a large effect because the theatres are now starting to get filled again and the capacity’s up. And I think that’s the important thing, that people have to go back to living their lives and doing the things they want to do, and I think we now do it with a state of caution and awareness in ways that maybe we’ve never had to before. But I think New York is going to come back, it’s going to be stronger than ever, people are sort of determined and you see every day on the streets of New York, you see these extraordinary examples of humanity and extraordinary examples of generosity. I think it’s really… it’s made people stop, it’s made people think, it’s made people realize that there’s consequences to what they do and what they say, and I think that’s going to extend itself to entertainment as well.

DRAMATIC, NEW DETAILS ABOUT THE POLICE RESPONSE... AFTER A GUNMAN OPENED FIRE ON AN OUTDOOR CONCERT IN LAS VEGAS.
OVER 50 PEOPLE ARE DEAD AND ATLEAST 500 INJURED.
AUTHORITIES SAY MANY LIVES WERE SAVED BECAUSE OF WHAT POLICE DID.
CNN"S JIM SCIUTTO REPORTS.

 --REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--
Nats: Shooting
JUST AFTER 10PM LAS VEGAS TIME THE SHOOTER UNLOADS A BARRAGE OF BULLETS-
Nats
AND AT 10-O-8 PM THE FIRST 911 CALLS COME IN TO POLICE.
Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, Las Vegas Police:
"At 10:00 P.M. Last night we started receiving calls of an active shooter at route 91 harvest festival located adjacent to the Mandalay Bay Resort."
THE TARGET -- A HUGE OUTDOOR CROWD OF SOME 22,000 PEOPLE AT A COUNTRY MUSIC CONCERT.
BUT POLICE DON"T KNOW RIGHT AWAY *WHERE* THE SHOTS WERE COMING FROM.
Nats of First Responder: "We have multiple casualties. GSW to the medical tent. Multiple casualties!"
Nats of shooting
ON THE SCENE, FIRST RESPONDERS BEGIN TO REALIZE THAT THE SHOTS ARE RAINING DOWN ON THE CROWD FROM AN ELEVATED POSITION.
First Responder: "It"s coming out a window."
SOON THEIR ATTENTION FOCUSES ON THE MANDALAY BAY HOTEL, SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET AWAY AND SEVERAL STORIES UP.
Nats
POLICE ENTER THE HOTEL AND WORK THEIR WAY TO THE UPPER FLOORS
JOE FRYER OF NBC NEWS IS A GUEST IN THE HOTEL - AND WITNESSES POLICE GOING DOOR TO DOOR SEARCHING FOR THE SHOOTER
TRACKING THE EXPLOSIVE BURSTS OF GUNFIRE, POLICE SOON DETERMINE THAT THE SHOTS ARE COMING FROM THE 32ND FLOOR.
Nats of first responder: "I"m inside the Mandalay Bay on the 31st floor. I can hear the automatic fire coming from one floor ahead, one floor above us."
Nats of first responder: "Be advised, it is automatic fire. Fully automatic fire from an elevated position. Take cover."
THE SHOOTER FIRING THROUGH TWO WINDOWS THAT HE SMASHED OPEN WITH A DEVICE SIMILAR TO A HAMMER.
POLICE CLOSE IN ON HIS LOCATION...
Undersheriff Kevin McMahill, Las Vegas Police:
"What we know is once we arrived up there, we had isolated this individual to the two rooms. And our swat team went in and confronted confronted the individual."
ONCE THEY HAVE THE ORDER - THEY GO IN - IT IS ONE HOUR AND TWELVE MINUTES AFTER THOSE FIRST 911 CALLS.
Nats: "We have sight on the suspect"s door. We need everybody in that hallway to be aware of it and get back. We need to pop this and see if we can get any response from this guy. See if he"s in here or he"s moved somewhere else.//Copy. All units on the 32nd floor, SWAT has explosive breach. Everyone in the hallway needs to move back. All units move back.////Breach. Breach. Breach." (explosive sound)
INSIDE, POLICE FIND THE SHOOTER DEAD.
Nats: "There"s one down 32nd floor Mandalay Bay!"
APPARENTLY THE RESULT OF A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND.
Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, Las Vegas Police: "We believe the individual killed himself prior to our entry."
THE MUSIC CONCERT HAD EXTENSIVE SECURITY...
Nats
BUT THIS WAS A THREAT POLICE HAD NOT PREPARED FOR.
Nats:
Undersheriff Kevin McMahill, Las Vegas Police: "These folks were attacked by a man for 32 stories up. with automatic rifle fire. I don"t know how you plan for that. Firing across the bfld into large crowds of people. We just didn"t see it coming."

SPEAKERPHONE INTV W/ Howard Dean, former Democratic National Committee Chairman, ABOUT ENVIRONEMTNAL ADVISOR VAN JONES RESIGNATION Van Jones, President Obama's Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the Council on Environmental Quality, abruptly resigned early this morning after conservatives criticized his past associations and comments. In videos posted on YouTube, Jones is seen calling Republicans one of the 7 words you can't broadcast (or print), as well as saying "you've never seen a Columbine done by a black child. Never," which conservatives called racist. "The most damning criticism against Jones pointed to a petition he signed in the aftermath of 9/11, which called for an investigation into whether high level U.S. officials had allowed the attacks to occur," Stephanie Sy reported on WORLD NEWS. Jones apologized for the remarks, but Sy reports "in this political climate, they weren't nearly enough. With President Obama's approval ratings sliding and his key reforms up for debate, conservatives are going after any vulnerabilities in the administration.and analysts say Van Jones is only the first of Obama's so-called policy 'czars' that will be targeted by Republicans."

ENGLAND INT logo on screen Moazzam Begg (Former Guantanamo Bay detainee) interview SOT - I remember somebody coming knocking at the door, banging the door down, have you heard the news, he said, I said no I haven't heard any news, he said the whole world has turned upside down, those were the words he said/I said what do you mean/ He said America has been attacked, and I couldn't comprehend who would attack, I thought it must be some sort of country that's actually attacked America, America's gone to war/ It was a lot later on that I actually found out what took place, and I didn't see any visualised pictures until I'd gotten out of Afghanistan, gotten out of Pakistan, because there was - no TV there for me to see - No (I didn't see any images)/ I didn't comprehend the impact and the whole sheer magnitude of 9/11 until I had gotten out. - I phoned a friend of mine and he told me that there could be imminent attacks on Afghanistan, that they're blaming al Qaida that's based in around Kandahar for being responsible/ And I remember saying to him quite clearly that I hope that the perpetrators of 9/11 are brought to justice, but I really hope that they don't try to blame everybody else for the responsibility of this attack - We evacuated from Kabul, myself and my family/ I really didn't want to give up all the projects that we'd begun, we put a lot of hard work, time, effort and money into all of this/ Eventually my family evacuated separate from myself/ I got cut off from them as I was visiting the city of Kabul/ I was unable to reach them, I had to walk over the mountains for two days to arrive in Pakistan and try and reach them through a different route and try and re-enter Afghanistan - Right (this caused problems as the Americans said I went through the Tora Bora mountains and had contact with al Qaida)/ This is what they say/ The reality of it, of course, is that it was a place that I evacuated from/ The roads had become impossible, es...

We cannot forget that sacrifice." 7. Dissolve into Panetta walking away STORYLINE: US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta visited the Flight 93 National Memorial in western Pennsylvania on Monday, the day before the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks in New York. Panetta paid his respects to the 40 passengers and crew members who died during the attacks in 2001. He walked down to the wooded area where the plane crashed and met with relatives of those who were on the doomed flight. United Flight 93 was travelling from Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco when it was hijacked by four militants. The 9/11 Commission said the militants likely wanted to crash the plane into the White House or the US Capitol, but the jet went down in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers fought back. In remarks at the memorial, Panetta said that this September 11 was an opportunity to reaffirm a pledge. "Our pledge to those who died on 9/11, our pledge to their families and our pledge to all Americans, that we will remain forever vigilant against threats to our homeland and that nobody, nobody attacks the United States of America and gets away with it," he said. Eleven years after the attack, American men and women in uniform are still fighting to keep the US safe from those who would do it harm, Panetta said. "They're putting their lives on the line every day. And every day, they are fighting to make sure that this country is protected. We cannot forget that sacrifice," he said. STILL: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed shortly after his capture in Pakistan STORYLINE: Self-proclaimed September 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be brought to trial in a civilian federal courthouse in New York, near the site of the devastating 2001 attacks. Prosecutors expect to seek the death penalty. Attorney General Eric Holder announced the long-awaited and politically significant decision at a news conference on Friday. He also said five other Guantanamo detainees, including a major suspect in the bombing of the USS Cole, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, will be tried through the military commission process. Holder said the September 11 defendants should be tried where their crimes occurred. "After eight years of delay, those allegedly responsible for the attacks of September 11th will finally face justice. They will be brought to New York, to New York, to answer for their alleged crimes in a courthouse just blocks away from where the Twin Towers once stood," Holder said. Nearly 3-thousand people died when the World Trade Centre towers were brought down by two hijacked jetliners, another hijacked jet hit the Pentagon and a fourth crashed in western Pennsylvania. Friday morning, during a news conference in Tokyo, US President Barack Obama said the matter was both a prosecutorial decision and a national security decision. "I am absolutely convinced that Khalid Sheik Mohammed will be subject to the most exacting demands of justice," Obama said. Bringing such notorious suspects to US soil to face trial is a key step in President Obama's plan to close the detention centre at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Obama initially planned to close the detention centre by January 22, but the administration is no longer expected to meet that deadline. Early reaction to the decision was mixed. Retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold, who commanded the USS Cole when it was attacked, said the move to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his co-conspirators in civilian court was shortsighted and dangerous. "Guantanamo Bay does not jeopardise hundreds of thousands of lives in the downtown New York area by trying those terrorists there," Lippold said. Some family members of September 11 victims were also angered by the decision, fearing the civilian court will give Mohammed and the others too many constitutional protections they might not have in a military tribunal. "You want to give them the same kind of constitutional protections as the guy who's arrested here on Bleaker Street for dealing drugs? You want to give them that? I don't think so," said widower Charles Wolf. But other New York residents hailed the move. "That's where he belongs. That's where the event took place, the tragedy, and that's where he should be tried," said Sal Bordonaro, who lives near the courthouse - and Ground Zero. Transfer of the detainees from Guantanamo to New York isn't expected to happen for many more weeks because formal charges have not been filed against most of them.

Various of people standing STORYLINE: Americans paused on Tuesday to mark the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, with ceremonies in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. US Vice President Joe Biden attended a memorial service in the town where one of four planes hijacked crashed, and later visited the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department. Biden stood with relatives and guests at the memorial for United Airlines Flight 93, the jet on which passengers fought hijackers for control before it crashed near Shanksville, for a wreath-laying at the memorial. The names of the 40 passengers and crew were read aloud at 10:03 a.m. EST (1403 GMT) - the moment the airplane crashed on September 11, 2001. "My personal prayer for all of you, is that in every succeeding year you are able to sing more than you weep, " Biden said. "And may God truly bless you and bless the souls of those 40 incredible people who rest in this ground," he said. Investigators later determined the four hijackers aboard planned to pilot the airliner to Washington, D.C., where another airplane crashed into the Pentagon. After the ceremony, the victims' families and friends were invited to walk through a gate and along a path where the plane crashed. Eleven years after the attacks, the Flight 93 memorial remains unfinished. Among projects still incomplete are an educational centre and a 93-foot tower with a wind chime for each passenger and crew member. Meanwhile, in New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke at a prayer service at Saint Peter's Church to honour the men and women of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey who died at ground zero on September 11, 2012. The Mayor said New York City will always remember their sacrifice. "As far as this city has come from the darkness that enveloped it in the wake of those attacks, we will always carry the memory of those we lost in our hearts, and we will never forget the courage and the heroism that we witnessed that day," said Bloomberg. As a final show of remembrance, two twin beams of light marking ground zero where the World Trade Centre towers used to stand will be beaming into the night sky on Tuesday evening. The two pale blue lights go on at sunset and will be turned off at dawn on Wednesday morning. The display is officially called "Tribute in Light."
