U.S. Army Lieutenant General Albert C. Wedemeyer and Navy Admiral Charles M. Cooke, greet them at the foot of a gangway to the ship. Admiral Cooke follows as they climb to the ship. A Chinese sailor salutes them and an entourage of Chinese military officers, as they board. A U.S. Navy Commander escorts them as they inspect a contingent of U.S. sailors in formation on deck.
