The Russell II Tribunal, chaired by Lelio Basso, dedicated a special session to this problem that took place in Rome in 1974. From the loud voice of the protagonists, chilling descriptions of the methods of torture practiced by the political police of those countries were heard, led by officers who trained and specialized in schools of the North American war.
