It's not a movie about a math genius or anything like that clearly. SOT CHRISTINA APPLEGATE: "I don't know if Cameron will agree with this but I think the scene where the water hits us in the bathroom was the highlight of the whole journey and making out with my man, my husband, that didn't suck either." 12. Film clip 'The Sweetest Thing' 13. SOT JASON BATEMAN: "Cameron's fashion is just on another planet it's so freaking good right? Amanda my wife tried to pilfer a couple of ideas...I am in one of my four suits that I own...and if they don't like it they can suck it." 14. Film clip 'The Sweetest Thing' 15. SOT SELMA BLAIR: "I've never really had any really silly sexual experiences like that or at least that I would say on TV. There is an element of humility to Jane you know. She's not quite at the same stage as her sexy friends but she's a little bit plainer. Yeah I can relate to that and she just she gets herself in quite a pickle and I am always the one that seems to be like that. the strait-laced one next to my friends that definitely gets in a jam a lot." 16. B-roll Selma Blair 17. SOT Director ROGER KUMBLE "What was great when Cameron signed on for this movie she became my partner in this project. She helped me cast. She was with me all the way. She is the funniest actress of our time." 19. Film clip 'The Sweetest Thing' STORYLINE: CAMERON'S THE SWEETEST THING CAMERON DIAZ and her co-stars gave the 'Sex and the City' girls a run for their money in New York Monday, at the premiere of dating comedy 'THE SWEETEST THING' Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair attended the premiere on the Upper West Side dressed to the nines and giggled in unison as they made their way through the press line. The film is described as a cross between a girls road trip and a buddy movie. Diaz says it's not 'A Beautiful Mind' but it is an unashamedly feel-good comedy. "This wasn't the kind of film that I had to try to solve any problems or cure anything or I wasn't trying to answer any huge question. It's not a movie about a math genius or anything like that clearly. So we just made it for everyone to have a good time and have a good laugh and hopefully everyone on Friday everyone will have a good time." It centres around the friendship between three girls - Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz), Courtney Rockcliffe (Christina Applegate- 'Just Visiting') and Jane Burns (Selma Blair - 'Cruel Intentions') and their rules about dating men. All three ignore the usual rules on how to get a man that fill best selling paperbacks, preferring to stick to their own guidelines - have fun and stick to guilt-free relationships. It's worked for confident Christina for years, that is, until Christina falls head over heels with a guy she meets in a bar named Peter Donahue (Thomas Jane - 'Original Sin'). At the end of the evening Christina's mystery Mr Right disappears and she realises she is hooked. She and Courtney decide to break their rules and take off on an adventure to find him. As the pursuit gathers momentum, the girls experience mishap after mishap and their rules on dating are pushed aside. Eventually, to their surprise, they find out love is the sweetest thing after all. The film is directed by Roger Kumble ('Cruel Intentions') while the screenplay is the first feature penned by 'South Park' writer Nancy M. Pimental. Kumble was one of the first to sign up for the project, while Diaz was the first to be cast. The director says the star of 'Charlie's Angels', 'Vanilla Sky' and 'Shrek' threw herself into her latest project. "What was great when Cameron signed on for this movie she became my partner in this project. She helped me cast. She was with me all the way. She is the funniest actress of our time." Cameron's co-star Christina Appelgate names the scene she found the funniest, as well as another of her favourite moments: "making out with my man, my husband, that didn't suck either." Her husband, actor Johnathon Schaech (pron. Sheck), plays 'leather coat guy' in suitably amorous fashion. The movie was filmed mostly in and around Los Angeles and for the last two weeks of production, San Francisco. The shooting schedule took the team on an impressive journey. Production began at the Hollywood Center Studios, before heading out in and around Los Angeles - then for the last two weeks, the team decamped to San Francisco. The film also features Jason Bateman (TV's 'Some of My Best Friends' and 'The Hogan Family') and Parker Posey ('Josie and the Pussycats', 'Best In Show', 'Scream 3'). 'The Sweetest Thing' is released in N America on Friday (12th April 2002). CLEARANCE DETAILS The Sweetest Thing Columbia Pictures (20) 7533 1111

SOT: (English) Jean Reno and Christian Clavier SOT Jean Reno: "It is part of the game also, when you like the script you buy it and you remake it. I don't have anything against that. You know they do that here, why not?" SOT Christian Clavier: "I like that kind of idea. We have to mix our culture so it's a good idea. I wish I could do the same on the other way. If I could do the remake for Meet the Parents for example, I would be extremely pleased because I loved the movie and I think we could have a version in France and in French." SOT Jean Reno: "Maybe I can play the part of Robert DeNiro." SOT Christian Clavier: "Yes you're right you're absolutely right." SOT Jean Reno: "We'll have to call him." 5. Film clip from Just Visiting 6. SOT: (English) Christina Applegate: "From Jean I learned just how to be elegant.I mean he is the most elegant creature walking the earth and is the most professional and pleasant human being and Christian is just fearless. I learned that from him. When you look at him he's just so dapper and pulled together and he smells nice and he's, you know, very serious and very intelligent and then he's on the floor with the cheese in his nose and he's just fearless. I really love that I love when I can be that person and he sort of allowed it to be safe." 7. Film clip from Just Visiting. FRENCH FARCE GETS A US MAKEOVER ================================ The French were left helpless with laughter when they watched the 1995 time-travelling comedy 'Les Visiteurs' and rewarded its mirth-makers by making it the most popular film in French history at the time. Now the cinematic alchemy that conjured up that regional hit has been remixed in 'Just Visiting', an Americanised version The storyline begins in the 12th century, in swashbuckling style. A medieval nobleman and his squire are accidentally transported to contemporary times by a senile sorcerer. He enlists the aid of his descendant to try to find a way to return home, all the while trying to cope with the cultural and technological changes distinguishing his time from ours. The 12th century stuff is the setup for the story, which mostly takes place in modern Chicago, after the knight, Count Thibault (Jean Reno - 'Ronin', 'Leon', 'Nikita' ), is catapulted into the future along with his vassal Andr?, (Christian Clavier), who both starred in the original version. That happens as the result of a miscalculation by a friendly magician, who offers to send the aristocrat back in time just far enough to save the king's life, but instead drops him into the 20th century. The Count and his manservant handle modern times as best they can, piling up the jokes as the culture clash across the centuries throws up hilarious encounters and misunderstandings. Thibault is befriended by the gentle Julia (Christina Applegate) a modern day princess who looks exactly like the love he left behind. Plenty of high jinx ensues with the hapless time travellers endeavoring to return to the past. Probably as difficult will be transferring the European success to the notoriously insular American audiences. Mais ... c'est la vie, as the French say.
