Drone flight over Pripyat, Ukraine, the city abandoned after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. The huge New Safe Confinenment structure covering the damaged reactor is seen in the background. This footage was taken in October 2019 and shows how nature has reclaimed the empty buildings and parks. The city was home to nearly 50,000 people before the disaster. They were all evacuated due to high radiation levels the next day, on 27th April 1986. An area 30 kilometres in radius around the reactor is still maintained as an exclusion zone, and will not be habitable for thousands of years.
