The couple, who have been photographed kissing over the past few months, were recently engaged in a "traditional, but also in a very spectacular way," Lopez says. The couple met last winter while shooting the movie 'Gigli,' in which Lopez plays a gangster sent to supervise a thug, played by Affleck, in a kidnapping. She describes Affleck as "brilliantly smart," charming and affectionate. "My mother loves Ben," she adds. The ABC interview was taped recently in Manhattan and in Lopez's old Bronx neighbourhood. Lopez didn't mention a wedding date, but the couple could tie the knot on Valentine's Day, according to friends and sources quoted in the November 18th issue of People magazine. Affleck, 30, who was once engaged to Gwyneth Paltrow, has never been married. Lopez, 32, has had two previous marriages. She split from model-restaurateur Ojani Noa in 1998 after about a year and this summer ended a 10-month marriage to dancer Cris Judd. That divorce becomes final on January 26. International Creative Management confirmed to APTN that the star is no longer with the agency, but declined to state whose decision was behind the split. The star has worked with several different ICM agents since 1998, but has been represented solely by president and vice chairman Ed Limato since he took her on as a client in June. On Monday night, Limato withdrew from personally representing Lopez, - reports claim he and others at the agency found the star to be frequently unavailable for consultation. Lopez left the agency on Tuesday. Industry insiders claim Lopez was given the push. An internal e-mail sent by Limato to staff, then leaked to the Daily Variety read: "We have decided that we no longer wish to represent Jennifer Lopez, and we have so informed her manager. " Sources confirm the reports in the trade press are correct - despite other claims that a spokeswoman for Lopez insists the decision was a mutual one. The singer has yet to sign up with a replacement. Talent agencies are vying to step in, but according to sources, while the star has been meeting with agencies over the last few months, she has not met with individual agents. Lopez will continue to be represented by Handprint Entertainment's Benny Medina and attorney Barry Hirsch, as will her newly launched Columbia Pictures based production company Nuyorican Prods. During the past four years, Lopez she has worked with four different business managers and two talent managers, one of which is her current partner Medina. The star has enjoyed huge success as a recording artist, selling millions of albums, but her attempts to cross over into acting have had mixed results. While Lopez starred in moderate box office hits 'The Cell' and 'The Wedding Planner' she also featured in less well received features including 'Angel Eyes' and 'Enough.' BEN AFFLECK AWARDED 'CHAMPION OF THE AMERICAN WAY' BEN AFFLECK and JENNIFER LOPEZ attended an award ceremony honouring Affleck in Beverly Hills Tuesday night, but skipped the press lined red carpet arrivals. Oscar winning Affleck was being honoured by the "People for the American Way Foundation" for his public and private efforts to build a better society. The couple shunned the spotlight before the awards dinner and skipped the red carpet arrivals. Once the awards show was underway, video access was tightly controlled and no photography was allowed of Jennifer Lopez or other celebrities in attendance. Once inside, Affleck referred to his former fiancee as his "girlfriend." The actor told the audience it was good to be known for something other than having a pretty girlfriend. The 'Champion of the American Way' award was presented to Affleck by director-producer Kevin Smith. Affleck has starred in a number of Kevin Smith films, including 'Chasing Amy,' 'Dogma' and the forthcoming 'Jersey Girl,' alongside Lopez. Affleck is the son of a Harvard University custodian, and actively supported the 'Justice for Janitors' campaign, to win living wages for blue-collar employees. Affleck has also testified before the U.S. Congress on behalf of children, and travelled across the country to encourage voter participation. The star can next be seen on the big screen in John Woo's 'Paycheck.' Meanwhile, Harrison Ford presented the 'Spirit of Liberty Award' to Skip and Heather Brittenham for their commitment to liberal political causes. The 30-year-old star of "The Sum of All Fears" and "Pearl Harbor" has been everywhere lately, mostly because of his romance with Lopez. After rampant speculation, and copious photos of them kissing in public, he and the singer-actress announced their engagement this month. They also co-star in the upcoming movies "Gigli" and "Jersey Girl." "I didn't need People magazine to tell me he's the sexiest man alive," Lopez said in the issue, which comes out Friday.
