Crews Re - sod Lambeau Field (01/09/1997)
A face lift of sorts at Lambeau Field. Today crews began the task of laying new sod end zone to end zone. The special sod was trucked in all the way from the east coast. The field was ripped up during last week's rainy and muddy NFC playoff game against the San Franciso 49's. NFL officals say the sod will be ready for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers. The winner of Sunday's contest heads to Superbowl in New Orleans.

On Labor Day, a group of Packers fans will come together to paint this year's design onto the famous backyard fence at 1177 Shadow Lane. The slogan is an annual representation of fans' dedication to their team and their desire for the Lombardi Trophy to return to Titletown. Fred Harrsch purchased the home more than 20 years ago when he moved from New Jersey to Green Bay to be near his beloved Packers in his retirement. He continued the fence painting tradition, which had been started by the home's previous owner, until his death in 2022. As Fred's health declined during the last decade of his life, Fred was cared for by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Harrsch, and her son, Peter. Under Fred's influence, the two became Packers fans and developed an understanding and appreciation for what the fence meant to Fred and the Green Bay community.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Station Notes/Scripts:</p>\n<p>No Script</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--SUPERS</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--VIDEO SHOWS</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--VO SCRIPT</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--LEAD IN</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--SOT</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--TAG</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>-----END-----CNN.SCRIPT-----</b></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--KEYWORD TAGS--</b></p>\n<p></p>

Nearly 20-thousand people attend Green Bay Packers shareholders attend the annual meeting today at Lambeau Field. Die-hard fans were able to get a mid-summer Packers fix and feel they're part of their beloved team. Among the major concerns of the shareholders were when the team would sign star running back Dorsey Levens and standout receiver Antonio Freeman. Packers G.M. Ron Wolf told the crowd they're working on signing them. Fans/shareholders also were concerned about the status of coach Mike Holmgren who's contract is up next year. The meeting ended with a scoreboard tribute to Packer legend and Hall-of-Famer Ray Nitschke who died earlier this year. end.
