Aerial shot of the wreckage STORYLINE: Emergency workers on Saturday recovered the black box and the bodies of the 19 people who died when their plane crashed and exploded on impact in a mountainous region outside Rio de Janeiro. The LET 410 double-propeller plane owned by local TEAM airline, which was carrying 17 passengers and two crew, exploded after crashing Friday night in a remote area near Saquarema, some 100 kilometres (60 miles) east of Rio. The cause of the crash was not immediately known. Four employees from Brazil's state-owned energy company Petrobras were among the victims, airline director David Faria said, adding that none were high-ranking officials. There were no reports of severe weather where the Czech-made plane disappeared. Authorities said, however, that it could have been raining lightly and foggy at the time of the crash. Colonel Celso Alberto de Carvalhos, who coordinated the recovery operation, speculated that the pilot of the plane tried to avoid a storm and crashed in the top of the mountain. The aircraft disappeared from radar screens about 20 minutes after leaving the city of Macae, 180 kilometres (110 miles) east of Rio de Janeiro, according to a spokesman with the Rio de Janeiro State Civil Defence Department. It was due to land Friday night in Rio after a flight of less than an hour. He surveyed burned-out forest land in Idaho on Tuesday, and told firefighters he appreciates what they're doing. Clinton is also releasing 150 (m) million dollars in emergency cash for fire fighting efforts. An estimated 20,000 military and civilian firefighters are working to contain blazes in Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Arizona, California, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana - the hardest hit by wildfires in the West. In McCall, Idaho, Tuesday, firefighters and military troops continued to battle the 23-thousand acre Burgdorf Junction fire in the Payette National Forest. Working 12-hour shifts, they mostly are digging up ground to create fire lines. Several new fires also popped up along the front range in Colorado on Tuesday in El Paso, County - the largest one is being called the Crow Gulch fire. A small airtanker is already working to put it out. Firefighters burned a fireline along this ridge to try to contain the blaze. And in Washington state, a flaming grasshopper is being blamed for starting a 5-thousand acre fire. The insect apparently jumped on an electric fence and was incinerated. It sparked the fire that broke out on Sunday on the Colville Indian Reservation. The fire is located about six miles northeast of Grand Coulee Dam. No buildings, other than a few sheds, are threatened by the fire and no injuries have been reported. About 50 firefighters, six bulldozers and several engines are at the scene. Three firefighters walking down dirt road and surveying area STORYLINE: Over seven thousand residents in the US have been ordered to evacuate their mountain community in eastern Arizona after a huge forest fire breached a hastily constructed fire line. The mandatory evacuation orders came on Saturday as the fire, which had burned more than 150 thousand acres (60,000 hectares) of forest since Tuesday, passed a fire line about eight miles (13 kilometres) west of the city of Show Low. Meanwhile, a second, smaller fire crossed another fire line and entered Heber-Overgaard, an already evacuated community of nearly three thousand residents about 25 miles (40 kilometres) to the west, fire spokesman Jim Paxon said. The two blazes, are just miles apart and officials expect the fires to link, creating a 50-mile (80-kilometre) line. At least 12 homes and 20 smaller structures were destroyed when the larger of the fires entered Pinedale, 125 miles (200 kilometers) northeast of Phoenix. The biggest of the two fires was thought to be caused by a person, although authorities didn't know whether it was an accident or arson. The second, smaller fire was started by a lost hiker signaling for help. Arizona's Governor Jane Hull said action needs to be taken to prevent such devastating forest fires as these. In hard-hit Colorado, crews struggled against an unpredictable blaze in the southwestern corner of the state, but cool weather helped firefighters battling a larger fire south of Denver.
