Captured sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) fry with a sea louse attached on its side. The salmon was captured for monitoring purposes. Sea lice can be a significant threat, especially to juvenile salmon. They can compromise osmoregulation, induce behavioural changes, and reduce growth rates. The rising numbers of sea lice pose a threat to wild salmon populations and are primarily a result of industrial salmon farming practices. Filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
