NASA's third group of astronauts meet the press, October 1963. Also known as ‘the Fourteen’, the astronauts were selected by NASA for the Gemini and Apollo programs the third group was also known as The Fourteen. Seven were from the US Airforce and four from the US Navy. Another came from the US Marine Corps whilst the last two were civilians. Four of the trainees would later die in accidents.
