V-2 components during Project Hermes Bumper program
V-2 Components on display during Hermes Bumper program at the White Sands Missile Range following World War Two. The Bumper was a two stage V-2 test flight. The V-2 rockets, originally developed by Nazi Germany, were used by the USA after World War II, both to aid the development of new rockets, and as sounding rockets to study the Earth's atmosphere. These launches took place between 1946 and 1952, mostly at the White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico, USA.
