San Diego Zoo keepers are delighted with the progress of a panda cub and her mother Bai Yun.
Zoo keepers have been able to regularly monitor the health of the new cub when Bai Yun leaves her side for a few minutes during the day.
New pictures of the mother and cub were released on Sunday from the San Diego Zoo in California.
The baby's black markings around the eyes are well defined after about six weeks and she's beginning to look like a panda.
Keepers say that the six week old panda is aware of their presence when they enter the cage for her medical check ups.
The cub is also gaining more confidence when Bai-Yun leaves the den.
In recent days the cub has started to roll over by herself and continues to gain two ounces a day.
Zoo keepers want to monitor the cub's development for several more months before a name is selected for the new addition.
