Clad in a white oxford shirt (no tie) and a gray blazer with the sleeves pushed up, 16-year-old Nick Jonas stopped by the White House for a photo with the president and children who are living with diabetes. It was his second time at the White House this year. He and brothers Joe and Kevin hung out there with Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha, on the night of Obama's inauguration. After the White House, Jonas headed off to Capitol Hill for a private meeting at the office of Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J. The teen idol and the senator made small talk about music while photographers snapped their pictures. Roughly a dozen Capitol Hill interns waited quietly across the hall from Lautenberg's office for a glimpse of Jonas, no loud outbursts or attempts to sneak around security were made. Nick Jonas publicly revealed that he has Type 1 diabetes while performing at a Diabetes Research Institute fundraiser in 2007. He is scheduled to testify on Wednesday before a Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee hearing on federal funding for diabetes research. Other witnesses include boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and actress Mary Tyler Moore. The Jonas Bothers created the Change for the Children Foundation, which donates money to charities benefiting children who are disadvantaged or ill. Wide of press conference JASON ALEXANDER FOR ONE VOICE 'Seinfeld' star Jason Alexander told a crowd in Jerusalem Wednesday (24JUN09) that a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the watershed "show about nothing" that launched him to fame share only one thing in common: neither one was ever supposed to work. "'Seinfeld' was different from anything else that was on television at the time. It was dismissed," he said. "Somehow we kept working on it with a singular vision of what it could be and eventually everybody caught on and started paying attention and enjoying it. So in that way I guess it's similar to the conflict." Alexander, 49, is a creator of Imagine: 2018, a project that asked Israeli and Palestinian high school students to write stories about what the world might look like 10 years down the road if an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement was signed in 2008. The project is sponsored by One Voice, a non-profit organisation that works to forge connections between Israeli and Palestinian moderates. A judge granted Danielle Staub's request for a temporary restraining order to stop her former boyfriend Stephen Zalewski from releasing a sexually explicit videotape and images of her. State Superior Court Judge Thomas F. Brogan also ordered Zalewski to produce all copies of the video and pictures of Staub, and he set a hearing for July 21. Staub, 46, also filed a lawsuit against Zalewski seeking damages for invasion of privacy, defamation and infliction of emotional distress. She claimed she was unaware Zalewski was taping her and only found out about it when someone read her a Star magazine article in which Zalewski discussed the tape. "It sickened me," Staub told the judge during the brief hearing. Zalewski didn't appear in court, and a telephone message left Wednesday at his home in Lincoln Park, in northern New Jersey, wasn't immediately returned. It was unknown if he had retained a lawyer. Outside court, Staub said Zalewski was trying to get back at her and her two daughters, ages 11 and 15, for her breaking up with him. She said the couple dated from May 2008 to December 2008 and Zalewski appeared briefly on "Real Housewives," which is described on Bravo's Web site as following "five of the most affluent Jersey Girls as they live lavish lifestyles and deal with all the drama that money can buy." "This is about my kids," Staub said. "I'm a big girl. Do what you want to me. But you broke bread with my children. Don't do this to me. No adult should ever do this to a child." According to the suit filed by attorney Darren Del Sardo, Zalewski told Star magazine he was considering selling the videotape and images and said, "She cost me so much money, why shouldn't I make a few dollars?" Del Sardo said the judge told him he would refer the case to the county prosecutor's office since videotaping someone involved in sexual activity without that person's consent is prohibited under state law. Staub is one of five New Jersey women on the Bravo series, which premiered in May. Her bio on the show's Web site describes her as a newly single mother "whose history of celebrity hook-ups is one for the record books." "Known for being brutally honest," the bio says, "Danielle enjoys pushing people's buttons and doesn't apologise for it." Outside the courthouse, passers-by called greetings to Staub, and a small crowd gathered around her to take pictures with cell phones. "I like her. I like the fact that she's outspoken," said Cassandra Jordan, of Paterson, a devoted "Housewives" watcher. Her daughter, Brenda Jordan, had some words for Zalewski: "I think he just needs to find something better to do with himself," she said. "I didn't worry whether it was something believable or that I hadn't played it before," she says. "It was something that I really enjoyed." And though she's not a real-life mother, Diaz plays the bulldog matriarch Sara in director Nick Cassavetes' latest drama, 'My Sister's Keeper.' The film premiered Wednesday (24 June) in New York City. Based on the Jodi Picoult best-seller, the film focuses on the Fitzgerald family, and the drastic decision they made in medically engineering a child (Abigail Breslin) as a perfect genetic match to help save the life of their older daughter Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), who has leukaemia. Diaz says working on such a heart-wrenching movie takes its toll on the actors. "It does take its toll on you. But that's what we do, you know? It's like how policemen go into a crime scene or a fireman comes out of a fire, you know? It's just sort of what we do emotionally," she says. In the film little Anna provides blood, bone marrow, whatever Kate needs. She does it because she loves her sister, and because it's all she'd ever known. Now at 11, with Kate needing a kidney, Anna says no for the first time - and beyond that, she files a lawsuit seeking medical emancipation from her parents to keep them from making further decisions about her body. Diaz says she was "amazed" how courageous her young co-stars were during filming: "Sophia shaved her head and her eyebrows at fifteen, you know. That's a really formidable time when kids really have their identity with their hair. That's who they are. And she just did it. She had hair down to here. And Abigail was just sort of fearless in everything. She's a warrior." Vassilieva admits that shaving her head was a scary prospect at first, but credits her colleagues for helping her through. HBO celebrated the premiere of its latest addition to the line-up, "Hung" on Wednesday (24JUN09) in Los Angeles. The offbeat comedy is about a well-endowed schoolteacher-come-escort named Ray Drecker. "It's about a guy trying to survive the times, you know?" said the show's star Thomas Jane. "Here's a guy who's an all American guy. A relatively good looking guy, talented, baseball player, played a season for the Braves. Married his high school sweet heart, home coming queen, had a couple of kids, travelling around the country, he's got it made. This is America for God's sake." As the economy gets tougher and tougher to survive, the underpaid teacher decides to supplement his income by capitalizing on his generous physical gift. With the help of a former-acquaintance-turned-pimp, Tanya (Jane Adams), Ray attempts to earn extra cash. "It's a little empowering. I'm selling his ass. Selling his ass," jokes Jane Adams. "It's going to go for a pretty penny, we hope." The extra money helps to counter the financial drains caused by his divorce from his ex-wife (Anne Heche), the needs of his teenaged twins, a lapsed fire-insurance policy, and a stubborn inability to take control of his life. "Jessica is a girl who, you know it's kind of little bit of the story of Jack and Diane, she is an American kid in Detroit, and fell in love with a boy named Ray and then they grew up," explained Heche. "And then things weren't as wonderful as she thought they were and not as wonderful as she would continue to like them to be. So she lives a little in that bubble." For those living in caves, "Hung" does not refer to anyone's last name. It's a description of Drecker's sole useful asset. Because, you know, he's hung. It leaves one to wonder what the audition process was like for Thomas Jane. Quick to admit to the process, Thomas Jane shows no shame. "I don't know, I'd say it was a little bit of type casting," smirks Jane. "But I try to avoid it, but in this business it just keeps getting harder and harder...I don't know."
