Egyptian geese territorial display and being mobbed
A pair of Egyptian geese (Alopochen aegyptiacus) bathing and then resorting to a territorial display due to the arrival of another goose. The single bird then mobs the pair. Territoriality is in most cases an attempt to monopolize resources or access to mates. Egyptian geese are monogamous, protective over their chicks and very territorial. This goose is found across sub-Saharan Africa and in the Nile Valley. It has been introduced to many locations around the world, originally as an ornamental bird, but escapees have established local populations. Filmed at Intaka island nature reserve, Cape Town, South Africa.
