Journalist filming in Pripyat transitioning into an aerial flight over the abandoned city. Pripyat was abonded after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. This footage was taken in October 2019 and shows how nature has reclaimed the empty buildings and parks. The city was home to nearly 50,000 people before the disaster. They were all evacuated due to high radiation levels the next day, on 27th April 1986. An area 30 kilometres in radius around the reactor is still maintained as an exclusion zone, and will not be habitable for thousands of years.

Close-up of radiation storage transitioning to a view of Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This facility was the site of the 1986 disaster in which an explosion, fire and core meltdown in one reactor led to the release of a huge amount of radioactive material into the atmosphere. The reactor was completely destroyed, but the three other reactors at the site continued operating, shutting down in 1991, 1996 and 2000. Work to decommission and clean the site continues, made more difficult by the high levels of radioactivity. The New Safe Confinement structure around the stricken reactor was completed in July 2019. A 30-kilometre exclusion zone is in operation around the site. Filmed in October 2019.

Reel 1. A group of young boys (6 - 10 years old?) play football in a park. One of the boys has a dog (Staffordshire Bull Terrier?) which is attached to a park bench by a lead. C/U of ball being kicked then boy in shorts running after it. M/S of policeman walking towards camera - he is gesticulating at the boys that they can't play football in the park. They look at the policeman and there is a C/U of one of the boys shrugging his shoulders and complaining. "What is the world made for if not to provide a glorious great place in which to play..." says narrator. Boy collects his dog from the bench - dog nearly pulls him over. Boys play football in a grey city street. Group of younger children and two girls sit on a wall and watch. Narrator speaks of how nearly a thousand children every year are killed because the street is not the proper place to play. Group of boys sitting on the wall shout and laugh. Various shots of boys playing football - the ball smashes a window. The boys look sheepish then run off down the street. Narrator demands that there be playgrounds within scooting distance of every child's home - to keep children away from the Juvenile Courts and out of the cemeteries!
