Bear being carried to the sound of cheers to car STORYLINE: A baby bear caused a stir when it entered a fruit farm in northern Turkey. The farmer found the bear sleeping on his land. At first he thought it was a dog, but when he realised it was a bear he called the fire department. So began a pursuit which lasted four hours. Twice the villagers tried to get the bear down from a tree using a cherry-picker and twice the bear slid down the branches and managed to evade the arms of dozens of men waiting below. They chased the bear across grassy fields. The bear eventually ran into a river, where despite proving to be a surprisingly quick swimmer, it was trapped by the villagers. The crowds cheered as the villagers carried the now-tranquilised bear into a nearby car. The bear was then delivered back to its natural habitat.
