Colorado's Pikes Peak hill climb race before paved roads. Scene setting, heading uphill, crowds and pre-race set up (some POV shots). In 1949, the AAA and USAC sanctioned the race to the top of Pikes Peak. Indy type cars were used. Rare race cars like the Coniff-Offenhauser, Maserati 8CTF, Chevrolet Special, Snowberger-Offenhauser, and the Offenhauser Special take on the mountain. Drivers Al Rogers, Louis Unser, and Charles Bryant take the wheel. Then called the The Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb, now called the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb - Race to the Clouds.
