Evacuation of 'B' Battalion of U.S. 5307th Composite Unit (nicknamed Merrill's Marauders ) from Myitkyina, Burma to U.S. 20th General Hospital in Assam, India during World War II. Wounded men are carried from ambulances to the interior of the hospital. A wounded soldier lies on a stretcher. A tag of a soldier. Armstrong's birthday in Apollo 11 quarantine, 1969. Birthday celebrations with a cake while in quarantine, for US astronaut Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) who turned 39 on 5 August 1969. US astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins returned to Earth on 24 July 1969, at the end of their historic Apollo 11 mission, which was the first to land astronauts on the Moon. They were recovered by US Navy divers from the Command Module 'Columbia' as it floated in the Pacific Ocean after splashdown. The astronauts were then placed in a Mobile Quarantine Facility (MQF), flown to Houston, Texas, and kept in quarantine for 18 days until 10 August 1969.
