Bulletproof material testing, Colchester Barracks, UK, 1991
Demonstration of the effect bulletproof fabric (beige) has had on a bullet (left) that was fired at it compared to a fully intact bullet (right). This fabric is a para-aramid, a class of synthetic fibres that have a high strength to weight ratio and resistance to heat and flames. The fabric has absorbed and dispersed the energy from the impact of the bullet, causing the bullet to deform and flatten. Filmed at Colchester Barracks, Essex, United Kingdom, in 1991.
