SECRETS OF NATURE - PILOT
L/S of gypsy caravan being pulled by a horse. Caravan passes the camera. "Pedro" is the name of the gypsy. The Fens - a windmill, a stream. C/U of a Stonechat on his nest, he feeds baby birds. Reed Warblers babies are seen in their nest being fed. C/U of the Bittern sitting on her eggs. Various shots of the bird. Narrator explains why she sticks her beak in the air (partly as camouflage, partly to spear any predators). Two Swans in flight - the camera follows them as they fly over the reeds. Bittern settles onto the nest. Narrator explains that we are lucky to see this bird as they are rare and very shy. Eggs begin to hatch and the mother bird pushes them off the nest into the water. We see the baby birds being fed. C/U of the fluffy birds on the nest. In some parts of England the Bittern is known as the Butterbump. One of the chicks bites the mother's beak. Shots of an owl in flight. C/U of the Short Eared Owl. Two Yellow Wagtails feed their chicks together. C/U of short haired owl with its wings spread out to protect its chicks, they move around under the wings. <br/> <br/>"Had enough of birds?" asks the narrator. Yes thanks. Cows walk along a river bank. C/U of the surface of the river. Gnat eggs float on the water. Microscopic C/Us of creatures just below the river's surface darting around. C/U of eggs hatching into lavae or "wrigglers" as they are known. Lots of different shots of gnat lavae underwater. X-ray type shots of the gnats - they are transparent so we can see how what happens inside them. Sacks of air expand and contract so that the animals can move up and down. C/Us of the tail of the gnat. Another gnat is shown - this one will grow up to be a "biter" (not all gnats bite). Gnat moves around in the water. C/U of the eye of a "Phantom" - transparent gnat. We see food passing through the gnat's body. We see a gnat lavae shedding its skin. Various shots of the pupae - funning looking things. Extreme C/U of the pupa rising up to the surface of the river and hatching out into a gnat. <br/> <br/>Camera moves through the wood. C/U of an entrance to a burrow or set. Two cute little badger cubs are in the set. They move around a bit. Various shots of badgers sniffing around for rabbits. One has a rabbit in its mouth. Two badgers try to get something out of a tin can. Badger gets to grips with a bees nest. He overturns it and eats the lot: bees, grubs and honey. Most of the stings don't get through his tough hide, but one bee manages to sting him somewhere sensitive and he shakes his muzzle. C/U of the two cubs - a bit bigger than when we first saw them. They are nuzzling away at the edge of a river looking for food. Narrator talks of the criminal nature of the badger. M/S of badger eating some chicken food then of badger approaching a hen on a nest. Hen puffs up its feathers to try and frighten him off. C/U of the badger eating some of the eggs. The narrator speaks of Brock's human characteristics - spare rooms in his burrow for friends, funerals (?) and outside toilets. Badger runs off with an egg in his mouth. M/S of Pedro moving off with his caravan. Narrator states: <br/> <br/>"Pedro the gypsy is moving on, perhaps into the Midlands of England or South into the rich lands of Suffolk and Essex. He goes where the fancy takes him and so shall we when we next meet." <br/> <br/>Note: it seems that this was made as a pilot film. Pathe must have intended to make others based in other parts of the country. This seems to be the only one made at this time, although the title is the same as the earlier series of films made by Mary Field, Percy Smith and others. <br/> <br/>Extra note: I think commentator is regular Pathe Pictorial commentator David de Keyser - SL.

He was joined at the premiere by new Bond girl, DENISE RICHARDS, co-stars, ROBBIE COLTRANE and DESMOND LLEWELLYN, actors RENE RUSSO - his co-star in The Thomas Crown Affair - JENNIFER TILLY, SAFFRON BURROWS and LAURENCE FISHBURNE and director MICHAEL APTED. Producer, MICHAEL G. WILSON also turned up. As usual, there's a good deal of secrecy and a great deal of hype surrounding the new picture, starring 007 regulars, PIERCE BROSNAN and ROBBIE COLTRANE and Bond newcomer, ROBERT CARLYLE in yet another tale of high-tech terrorism. Continuing the tradition established by the late CUBBY BROCCOLI - who 37 years ago began the successful series with the groundbreaking \"Dr No\" - \"The World Is Not Enough\" is the 19th Bond film to date. Directed by MICHAEL APTED and produced by BARBARA BROCCOLI and MICHAEL G. WILSON, the film revolves around James Bond's mission to defuse an international power struggle as the world's oil supply, concentrated in the Caspian Sea, hangs in the balance. French actress, SOPHIE MARCEAU, stars as Elektra King, the daughter of an oil tycoon whom Bond is assigned to protect after the tycoon is murdered in an explosion inside the MI6 building in London. But she's no soft touch. Electra is intent on ensuring King Industries and her family control the oil in the Caspian Sea. She is the first female arch villain in a Bond film. \"Full Monty\" star, ROBERT CARLYLE joins the cast as the villain Renard, who has a bullet embedded in his brain which blocks all sensation, including pain. The high octane adventure begins outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, continues with a spectacular high-speed boat chase up London's River Thames and progresses through the highlands of Scotland before Bond survives an avalanche in the Caucasus Mountains and a potential nuclear explosion in a vast circular oil pipeline in Turkey. DENISE RICHARDS stars as nuclear weapons expert, Dr Christmas Jones and Bond regular, DESMOND LLEWELYN returns as Q, along with appearances by DAME JUDI DENCH as M and SAMANTHA BOND as Moneypenny. ROBBIE COLTRANE reprises his role as Valentin Zukovsky which he first created for Goldeneye. Brosnan, who signed up for three Bond films in total, previously starred in \"GOLDENEYE\" and \"TOMORROW NEVER DIES\". He was recently seen in The Thomas Crown Affair and will shortly be appearing in Sir Richard Attenborough's Grey Owl. His other starring roles include The Fourth Protocol, Dante's Peak, Mrs Doubtfire, Mister Johnson and The Deceivers. French actress Sophie Marceau came to international fame in Braveheart. She has also starred in La Fille D'Artagnan, Beyond The Clouds, Police and La Boum in which she made her movie debut aged 13. Denise Richards starred in Wild Things, Starship Troopers and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Director Michael Apted is best known for Gorillas in the Mist, Gorky Park, Blink and Coal Miner's Daughter. Film trailer 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' (aka 'Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone' in some territories) STORYLINE: HARRY POTTER CASTS A SPELL AT STAR-STUDDED PREMIERE A huge crowd of celebrities, including Jerry Hall, Sting, Sarah Ferguson, Cliff Richard, Cher, Cate Blanchett, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Ben Stiller, and Richard E Grant flocked to London's Leicester Square to join the cast and crew of the highly anticipated 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'. (N.B. In some territories, such as the USA the title is 'Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone') The cast, including Robbie Coltrane, veteran actor Richard Harris, John Hurt, as well as the novel's author J.K.Rowling attended the premiere and met some lucky fans among the thousands that welcomed the stars with high-pitched screams. The event was one of the largest ever premieres to be seen in Central London. The Odeon Cinema was decorated with props from the film and at the end of the arrivals the sky was filled with fireworks. The story is based on the hugely popular first book of the series by J.K. Rowling and is directed by Chris Columbus ('Home Alone'). The plot centres around a little boy, Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, who discovers that although he has been begrudgingly raised as an orphan by his aunt and uncle, his real parents were wizards. They were killed by the evil wizard, Voldemort, and Harry was brought up in the normal human world - the world of 'Muggles'. When a mysterious letter is delivered by the friendly giant Hagrid, Harry is wrenched from his dreary, Muggle-ridden existence. It is an acceptance letter to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon enough, Harry finds himself at Hogwarts with his owl Hedwig and in the world of wizards where he is famous as a survivor of the wizard who tried to kill him. His best friends and cohorts, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) accompany Harry on his adventures as he learns how to make his own magic. The all star cast also includes Richard Harris (Headmaster Dumbledore), Alan Rickman (Professor Snape), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall), John Cleese (Nearly Headless Nick), Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick), Zoe Wanamaker (Madame Hooch) and Julie Walters (Mrs Weasley). 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' gets released in North America, UK, and Taiwan on November 16th and the rest of the world after November 22nd.
