GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - NOV. 19, 2024: As the world celebrates the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, children living in the war-torn Gaza Strip continue to cling to life with hopes of better days, despite facing challenging living conditions and the impact of the Israeli assault. Adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on November 20, 1989, to protect children's rights and improve their living conditions, the Convention on the Rights of the Child marks its 35th anniversary this year. Furthermore, this special day, November 20, designated as "World Children's Day," holds great significance for evaluating progress in children's welfare. However, in many parts of the world, children are still forced to struggle under challenging living conditions due to various factors, primarily wars, as well as economic, political, and climate-related issues. The Gaza Strip in Palestine, devastated by years of blockade and over a year of ongoing war, stands out as one of the most striking examples of this situation. Children living in the destroyed neighborhoods and among the ruins of the Gaza Strip strive to survive in makeshift tents lacking infrastructure. They face the constant risk of death, as well as other deadly issues such as hunger and disease, due to Israeli assaults and the blockade.
